Tepe Mahallesi has been the address for this area for many years and literally means "hillside". The building now housing the Hillside Restaurant is one of the oldest buildings in Marmaris still in use. The Owner's Grandparents and ancestors have lived in this building for over 150 years and the owner, Mr Duran also grew up in here. Today their old home is lovely and idyllic restaurant which has the most wonderful view over the harbour and Netsel Marina.

The Hillside Restaurant was established in 1995 and consists of several buildings and has two terraces from which you can enjoy the view. There is also an indoor restaurant which is more in the style of a traditional Turkish room than a restaurant. It is like a museum with old photographs and implements which belonged the owners family. This is excellent place to come and enjoy the Turkish cultural heritage and good food at the same time.

How does one find the Hillside restaurant? From the bazaar corner of the old mosque go straight ahead up the slope towards the castle and the cosy old narrow streets will lead you to the Hillside Restaurant. One of the staff will be waiting for you at the entrance to show in to the restaurant. From the harbour side you can see the restaurant signs. Just follow the small streets up towards the restaurant. The Hillside Restaurant is is absolutely charming. While dining you will hear the sound of running water. Also there is plenty of trees which gives their own special stamp to the place. Olive and fig trees are almost as old as the buildings itself. If they could just talk they would tell many interesting stories.
